Director of Disaster Preparedness and Response for DODMA Moses Chimphepo has said this in Nchinji district during the distribution of maize to hunger stricken households as the provision of food assistance program still continues.
Speaking during the distribution exercise Chimphepo expressed gratitude with the donor aid support rendered through the initiative to reach out to households mainly affected by dry spell in different parts of the country.
However Chimphepo has asked the citizenry to refrain from selling farm produce meant for consumption during this harvesting period as this may contribute to massive hunger especially during the lean period.
DODMA is implementing the initiative with support from world food program-WFP and World Bank among other partners.
According to Malawi vulnerability assessment committee-MVAC report, almost 5.7 Million people have been affected with hunger in the 2024-2025.
