Government and the private sector have been urged to invest in research and innovation ideas that can provide solutions to the challenges rocking the country.

The call was made on Monday during the launch of the 2025 Research and Innovation Week, held at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) in Blantyre.

Speaking after the launch, MUBAS Vice-Chancellor, Associate Professor Nancy Chitera said the university is working tirelessly to align with research and innovation efforts which are fundamental in boosting the country’s economy.

Main speaker during the function Dr. Becky Jones-Phillips applauded the University for strengthening the initiative every year.

On his part Senior Manager of cooperate and institutional banking at FDH Bank Steve Koloko urged the corporate world to provide the much needed support for innovation following the bank’s contribution of K20 million towards the noble cause.
